Prometheus is on his way to steal fire from one of you, who will it be?
1. Sometimes, like a ship lodged in the Suez Canal, you can feel like the game has come to a standstill. How have you used the extra time afforded to you by the challenge extension? 2. The Panama Canal was completed in 1914, a technological marvel at the time. How did you enjoy the challenge, which has been described as a modern day technological marvel? 3. The Grand Canal is one of the world's oldest manmade waterways. However, when thinking about history, it's usually helpful to think about the future. How do you want this first vote to impact the future of this game? 4. The Corinth Canal is the deepest canal in the world. How deep have your conversations about items in the game? Is there speculation, for example, about who might have done well on the Idol Challenge? Are there any other idols in the game? Same reaction here, dude. We were SO CLOSE! (and yet so far)

Somehow, it feels worse to have gotten third by such a narrow margin than if we were just miles behind.

RIGHT??? I'm cycling through some of the moves I wish I had made, thinking, "Maybe I could have saved us if I had just scored a few more points..."

Welp. It's disappointing but that challenge did look extremely tough. The effort was definitely there and we'll win it next time!
I need to sign off for the night, but Kili should be around at some point soon.

I am concerned about Hypnos' fascination with canal metaphors

I feel like I should have somehow done more to get more points over my opponents, but all three of us basically used the same strategy. I only managed to etch out the win by playing my age 5 ballcourt in round 6 while they both played theirs in round 5.

If you don't mind my asking, what was that strategy? I feel like I did pretty well, but I'm not sure I could describe what I did as belonging to any sort of cohesive strategy besides just making the best individual moves I thought I could.

I think the general strategy we used was avoid barracks. (although I actually played one as the final move as the game) Otherwise it probably was just whatever would give us the most points. (generally Temple, Housing, Ballcourt and Marketplace, with some swapping out for canals and farms.)
I don't believe I scored the absolute maximum possible, well I know I didn't, I dropped a couple of points from misplacing locations, and not really knowing what I was doingthe first round.

Oh, interesting. I was the biggest barracks user in my game, I figured that it was one of the best buildings you could place. Of course, I don't think that approach really got me a ton of good will from my opponents, but it seemed like we ended the game amicably.

It's why my group all ended up with over 400 points each and the tokens of devotion though.
I probably could have used them and restricted my opponents score though a little more.

Ohhhh. You raise an excellent point. My group definitely used a bunch of barracks. I guess we were focusing too much on beating each other (in a friendly way; I really liked working with Artemis and Viy) instead of making sure we all got high scores. Blasted competitiveness got in the way.

Yeah, I started off by saying "hey, this is about points, not winning, so let's play nice?" It mostly worked, though Jael made a couple of shady moves I didn't appreciate that really weren't necessary

Hey guys! I’m hanging out with some plant/animal friends for brunch at the moment, and I’ll answer PMs later. Hope your day is going well.
