I expect this shall be my last entry. Business upon Ithaca kept me away for a full day, and upon my return I found myself transported to the strange lands of the Taotie. These foreign gods (and dwarven princes) are strange to me. The Egyptian ladies, Maat and Hathor, extended warmest greetings, as did Suzerain Papatuanuku, a counterpart (or perhaps aspect of) Lady Gaia from distant shores. Fili and Kili of the House of Durin were boisterous but fine company, and my friends Lord Hades and the Hellhound accompanied me. Lords Phobos and Deimos were aloof as before, and were joined by Lord Bilious and Lady The Radiance.
It seems my tardiness was an insurmountable cultural faux pas in this strange land, and I have not recovered. Despite a late rally against Lady The Radiance, led by Lords Phobos and Deimos with the tacit support of Cerberus and the Princes of Durin, it is for naught. One by one my companions have gone silent, starting first with Lord Hades. It galls me that he who will shepherd my shade to his dominion was the first to make his betrayal plain. In time, I suspect each of my friends, even loyal Cerberus, will yield to consensus and my banishment will be complete.
Oh, Penelope. I never should have left your side. I longed for adventure, when I knew in my bones that my place was at home. Farewell my love. I shall await you in Elysium.
